Cassie Gebhart
Intellistudent of the Week, 11-12-07
My full name is Casie LeRae Gebhart. From the time of infancy to the time I was 5, I lived in a trailer park. Catalina Trailer Parks was the best place ever during my childhood. Living just a short distance from my aunts and cousins, I spent much of my childhood swimming in the local pools and playing cops and robbers in the woods.
Soon before I was to begin kindergarten, my family and I moved. It is now thirteen years later, and we still live in the same cozy little home. Now, I live just a few minutes drive from most of my classmates and friends. My aunts and cousins have moved as well.
As a senior in high school, it seems that my schoolwork and my extracurricular activities have consumed every waking minute of my life, but I would not have it any other way. Music has positively impacted me in more ways than one. Wind ensemble, pep band, marching band, drum line, and full orchestra are just a few of the musical programs that I am involved in. Also, I have performed in numerous concerts and musicals.
Various other extracurricular activities that I have been involved in over the past four years include French club, academic quiz team, and peer mediation. It has been a privilege to be initiated as a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. However, I am not a member for nothing. I have done dozens of hours worth of community service. Some of these hours were spent as a leader PA at Girl Scout summer camps, while others were spent babysitting, tutoring, giving blood, volunteering at local marathons, and serving food at local food pantries.
My leadership abilities are strong, as I have been one of the two field commanders for my high school's marching band during the 2006-2007 school year. Currently, I am vice president of thespian troupe #918, and I am a student director of one of my troupes' one-act productions.
Since the spring of 2005, I have worked as a USSSA umpire at Goldman Park. I work as an umpire for the boys' and girls' mini-tee leagues and the handicapped Dream Catcher leagues of the Middletown Youth Softball Association. Since November 2, 2005, I have worked as a cashier clerk at the Kroger Company in Franklin, Ohio.
Conclusively, as can be imagined, I am a very strong-willed, diligent young adult. Still, I enjoy spending a portion of my time with friends and family. Life is a blessing, and I believe that I am living life the way in which it was intended for me to live it.
Thank you for taking the time to hear about my life, in a nutshell. I hope that we keep in touch. = ]
